The brazed finned tubing service from Fin Tube Products, Inc. creates a metallurgical bond between the tube and fin, making it the most suitable bond for higher temperature applications. FINBRAZE® bonding between the tube and the fin ensures a stress-free, uniform, and non-porous contact. This bonding allows for thinner tube walls compared to a welded fin to tube joint. The FINBRAZE® process is done in house with our Controlled Atmospheric Brazing Furnace. There are numerous advantages to the FINBRAZE® production of finned tubing.
The use of dissimilar metals which cannot be welded such as copper fins on stainless steel tube.
With the use of our CLADFIN® process a nickel chrome coating of up to one mil thick is applied to the complete tube and fin surface. When processed in our Controlled Atmospheric Brazing Furnace the coating will diffuse up to 1/2 mil into the surface of the tube and fin. This creates a high heat and corrosion resistant bond of the fin to tube surface. CLADFIN® affords a suitable option to the high cost of all stainless steel construction, with the additive benefit of an increased heat transfer rate.
Fin Tube Products, Inc. is a leader in the development and production of miniature finned tubing. Finned tubing can be supplied in sizes descending from 1/4" to a diameter as small as .015". Fin counts can reach up to 142 fins per inch on the hypodermic size tubing.
Fins are helically wound and then secured with a Soldered or FINBRAZE® fin to tube attachment. The miniature fin tubes are generally used for low temperature cryogenic, or biomedical applications. A typical cryogenic use would be a coiled heat exchanger supporting a Joule-Thomson port. (J-T port)

Fin Tube Products, Inc. offers Edge-Tension fin tubes that are available in similar or dissimilar metals. Edge Tension finned tubing is recommended for moderate duty in normal ambient air applications and for low-temperature (up to 250°F) air cooled heat exchangers.
Fin Tube Products, Inc. offers a root soldered fin to tube attachment. This method of soldering, available on our larger diameter tubing provides a void free fin to tube joint. This method of attachment decreases the amount of solder used compared to a dip process. This increases the heat transfer of the finned tube. When dipped in solder a full coat/film of insulating solder is formed over the entire fin and tube surface. Soldered fin tubing is good in temperatures up to 375°F.
Stamped fins can be manufactured in almost any shape or size. This style of fin is commonly referred to as "Square Fin" or "Plate Fin". Although any shape is possible, square and round are the norm. The fin is attached to the tube in our Controlled Atmospheric Brazing Furnace with our FINBRAZE® process.
Excellent choice in sooting or fouling atmospheres
Fin heights are limited only by your heat transfer considerations
Similar or dissimilar tube and fin metal combinations
"L" Foot or Shoulder tension construction assures uniform fin spacing, rigidly interlocked by the fin radius overlap over the exposed shoulder edge. This prevents separation and movement under cycling conditions within the 450°F range.
Fin Tube Products, Inc. provides coils, “U” bends and serpentine shapes for your custom heat exchanger designs. Fin Tube Products, Inc. can assist your engineering department in both prototype and production runs.
Depending on the bend radius finned tubing can be formed directly over a mandrel thereby eliminating the need for bending bares. “U” bends can still be supplied with center bare areas if necessary. Our FINBRAZE® products can be easily coiled using a tube made of Copper, Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel and other common metal types.
